Picture this. Perfect weather, perfect clients with an 3 month old baby girl and perfect outdoor photoshoot location. Then picture this… me doing a drive by on my outdoor location the morning prior ‘just to check’ and it being closed… Then me having a royally big hissy fit in my car. It never ever EVER closes… except today. Barrier up. No access. Why!! just why!?
Nowhere else in a 10 mile radius had the perfect mix of what we needed, open field, public access, no pesky fencing, sunset worthy backdrop, wild grass and space for a 1971 T2 Bay window VW campervan oh and a huge gorgeous dog. My perfect outdoor location for a older baby photoshoot had fallen through and I had to get thinking sharpish.
I drove around for 45 minutes in a last ditch attempt of stumbling over somewhere new. I couldn’t! You see, nothing ticked every box. So I decided to trust in myself and revisit the original location, this time further down the road. The car park. Yes folks this was basically shot at the side of a rather busy but pretty carpark. Good job my clients trust me!
At 2months old Imogen was well into the ‘older baby’ category for the photo shoot, so I knew there would be a lot of parent interaction, soothing and feeding. It so transpired that all this little lady wanted on this particularly hot summers evening, was her mama.
It was an absolute honor to capture their family bond, tickling, snuggling whilst watching their big dog Blue bounding about. Danielle, fed her in the open air with the sun beating down on her back and the wind rushing through her hair. I had goosebumps.
As a family they were all effortlessly cool and had this calmness about them, like everything had come together to this point, their marriage, the dog, the campervan and now Imogen all on this perfect summers night. It didn’t matter that we weren’t in the originally planned spot. All the ingredients we needed were right there.
Enjoy pouring over this perfect sunset photoshoot as much as i did.
