The atmosphere of this outdoor family photography session was as deep and beautiful as the clouds were stormy. The children bounced off each other like lightening and were altogther an electric bunch. Carly was little nervous that her brood would be hard to handle, but also had every faith in me that I would handle it and produce honest and authentic photos for her. Knowing that I had her full trust was key to this session. Photography is a two way street, if my clients give me their all, I’m able to create honest and stunning photos.

Having photographed children and families exclusively for nearly 7 years now I’m confident and calm enough to handle anything and experienced enough to  still produce a gallery of heart-wrenchingly beautiful photographs despite the weather and despite how crazy the kids are.

I’ve been keen to show this gallery, as it really displays that it’s more about relaxing, playing and concentrating on each other plus the key colours you wear  – not just about backlit sunsets.  The natural light was throwing some amazing shades of colour during this family photoshoot even with the thick clouds, and it only added to the energy this family had.

 

I know it was important to Carley to have family photos altogether, more so than individual photos of the children all alone. After experiencing Post Natal depression 18m prior, Carley wanted the art work that filled her home to provide a daily reminder about the connection and love they have as a family unit. She wanted her children to see themselves in the photos every day as they bounded through the hallway. Little subconscious reminders of how much their Mummy and Daddy love them and how far she has come.

Family life is never perfect, it’s a messy combination of amazing highs and sometimes deep lows, Photography plays a powerful role in helping us remember these perfectly imperfect days.

I hope that these photographs bring Carly positive vibes every day and help keep her darker days at bay. She is beautiful inside out and I am so honored to be trusted to make these photographs for her.
