When Katy from Hot Pink Wellingtons fame contacted me via THE LITTLES LIST at Rock My Family to take photos of her newest addition to the family, I was so excited to meet such an established blogger in the business and also get a peak inside her trendy home and lifestyle. When I pulled up to the house she shares with John, her husband and toddler Max in Surrey. I knew from the swathes of lavender lining the entrance and the beautiful bay window that I was going to have heaps of light and loveliness to work with.
We spent most of our photoshoot time larking about in the lounge. The mint green sofas and warm wood flooring paired with the chandelier and styled nic nacs were the perfect mix of eclectic elegance. It was a beautiful homely family living space and after a few fun games with Max I captured some relaxed, real life family photos.
Having worked with plenty of families you learn very quickly which approaches are going to work with different types of toddlers and ages, each child is so different and so I have to adapt my session accordingly. With Max it was a case of ensuring he felt fully involved and included in the photoshoot. We larked about on the sofa and I melted when he stood next to me to take a shot me with his mini Vtech Kidizoom Camera!
Max and John went off for some lunch in the kitchen and left Katy and I to capture Ben in his nursery. He was a dream to swaddle up and really loved just chilling out the familiar surroundings of his own home. It’s so nice to be able to give my clients photos with a story behind them. One day Ben is going to be able to take a peak back through time at how life was when he was born, all the surroundings of his home and see the warm relaxed smiles from his family. Real memories.
Knowing that Katy and John had a gorgeous garden I was keen to head outside. I love outdoor newborn photography and I make the most of it while I can living in England! Being outside also worked well with Max’s energy as it was a change of scenery for him. Needless to say Max absolutely relished in the opportunity to use his camera again and was even a pro at the good angles!
I thoroughly LOVED this relaxed family newborn session and wish Katy and John all the best with their new family of four! If you’d like to find out more about newborn photography photoshoots at home or outdoor family photoshoots just drop me a message and we can have a chat.
